On the same day that his team was selected to win the MAC East title, Ohio point guard D.J. Cooper earned a little preseason recognition himself. Cooper was selected as a honorable mention pick for ESPN's "Best of the Best: The Top 10 Point Guards" by Jason King.

Other names on the list include Isaiah Canaan from Murray State and Michigan's Trey Burke. Ohio State's Aaron Craft holds the six spot on the list.

Cooper was picked to the All-MAC East preseason team along with teammate Walter Offutt. Cooper was also picked as College Sport Madness' MAC Player of the Year.

Last season, Cooper earned All-MAC First Team honors and was a Cousy Award Finalist, Lute Olson All-America Team selection, and a NABC Division I All-District 14 Second Team choice.

Cooper averaged 14.7 points per game last season, while helping lead Ohio to its second MAC tournament title in three years. He averaged 19.7 points and 6.7 assists during the tournament run and was named the 2012 MAC Tournament MVP.
