Just one Southeast Ohio county has customers without power more than 24 hours after heavy winds and rainfall passed through the region.

According to American Electric Power's outage map, Gallia County is reporting 246 customers without electricity at this time.

Previously, as many as 7 Southeast Ohio counties were reporting power problems in the wake of remnant of superstorm Sandy sweeping through the state.

In Northern Ohio, thousands of residents are again waking up in the dark and hundreds of schools closed for a second day as the region cleaned up from Sandy.

Flood warnings remained for much of the Cleveland lakeshore area as crews cleaning up debris and trying to restore power expected to deal with another day of steady rain and gusty winds Wednesday.

FirstEnergy reported more than 147,000 homes and businesses without power before dawn Tuesday. More than 114,000 of those were in Cuyahoga County, which includes the city of Cleveland. Restoring all of it could take days.

High winds spinning off the storm smacked Ohio early Tuesday, uprooting trees, bringing down power lines and causing other havoc. Two people were killed in crashes on icy roads in northwest Ohio.
