A mayoral candidate for the city of Vienna, West Virginia has died.
John Sheridan (Jack) Roush died Thursday morning of a heart attack.
Vienna Mayor David Nohe confirmed Roush's passing. He said that it is a terrible loss, adding that Roush had talked about running for Mayor for the past two years.
Due to Roush's death, a filing period will be open until Friday, Nov. 2, at 4 p.m. for write-in candidates for mayor for the city of Vienna.
Any eligible individuals who seek to be elected by a write-in vote shall file a write in candidate certificate of announcement with the city before the deadline.
This procedure was determined by the West Virginia Secretary of State's office, the city of Vienna, the Wood County Prosecutors office and the Wood County clerk's office.
