Regional Sailors Return To US Aboard USS Enterprise

A group of Navy sailors with regional connections are stateside this Veteran's Day, in anticipation of their aircraft carrier's upcoming retirement from service.

The six sailors are some of the 5,550 sailors and Marines who recently returned aboard the USS Enterprise after a seven and a half month deployment to the Mediterranean and Arabian seas.

The USS Enterprise returned to Norfolk in the 25th and final homecoming before being inactivated December 1.

According to the US Navy, the Enterprise was commissioned in November 1961.

She was the world's first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier and has participated in every major conflict since the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The six sailors from the region are:

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Roy E. Jackson II, of Coal Grove, Ohio

Navy Chief Petty Officer Jason T. Malmstrom, of Wellston, Ohio

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Tiffany N. Gebhard, of Marietta, Ohio and Huntington, West Virginia

Navy Airman Mandy M. Fusco, of Wurtland, Kentucky 

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Anthony J. Blevins II of Parkersburg, West Virginia and Vincent, Ohio

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Chadd M. Davis, of Chillicothe, Ohio
