Ohio Baseball Gets It’s Second Official Commit of the Start of Early Signing Period

Ohio Baseball received its second official commit on the day, Ty Black a senior shortstop from Waynesville High School (Waynesville, Ohio). Black signed his National Letter of Intent this morning committing to play baseball as a member of the 2014 recruiting class.

“The coaching staff is unbelievable really," Black said on why he chose Ohio University. "The interest they showed in me was phenomenal, and the ability to play right away was a big reason.”

Black, who plans on majoring in Business and Marketing at Ohio, chose the ‘Cats over offers from Ohio State, Xavier, Tennessee Tech and Wright State among others.

Black, a 6-foot-2-inch 180 pound shortstop hit .476 last seasons for the Spartans. During the summer playing for the Ohio Heat, Black helped lead the team to a CABA World Series title while managing to hit .438 with four homeruns and three triples.

Black announced his signing on his personal Twitter and joins Austin Rieman (Badin High School) as the first two official members of the 2014 recruiting class for first year head coach Rob Smith.
