Clerks and managers at convenience stores are seeing more foot traffic in their stores as the Powerball lottery jackpot soars.

The current estimated value of the jackpot is $550 million as of Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Powerball website, the odds of winning any Powerball jackpot are more than 1 in 175 million, but many people seem willing to take that chance.

Sonya Bailey, manager of the B & J carryout in Newport, Ohio, says Powerball sales at her store are sharply up.

"Today's been every about every customer got at least two dollars worth of tickets," said Bailey.

The price of a single Powerball ticket doubled in price this January from one, to two dollars, according to the Powerball website.

"More people are playing it, spending more money on it," said Bailey.

The winning numbers will be drawn tonight at 10:59.

The Powerball lottery is played in 42 states, as well as Washington D.C. and the Virgin Islands.
