An 18-year-old New Lexington man is in custody facing charges connected to an incident that forced the lockdown of a school district Tuesday.
New Lexington police arrested Austin Brooks in the Roseville area early Wednesday morning with assistance from the Muskingum County and Perry County sheriff's offices.
Brooks' grandfather had filed a report with police Tuesday, claiming his grandson had assaulted him and verbally threatened him.
The grandfather also told police he was concerned Brooks had access to guns in a home on Center Street.
Following the report, the New Lexington City Schools were placed on lockdown and the Fairfield County SRT team was called in.
Brooks is being held in the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail on charges of domestic violence, aggravated menacing and inducing panic.
Brooks will be arraigned in Perry County Court on Thursday.
