A new grant given to the Belmont County Port Authority will support the creation of at least 50 new jobs.
The Port Authority (BCPA) received the State Appalachian Development Grant to buy the Belmont County Memorial USAR Center.
The $75,000 grant will alllow the BCPA to remove the asbestos in the building, then lease it to MPR Supply Chain Solutions.
MPR plans to use the building for its transloading project and expects to fill more than 50 new positions.
The project is expected to cost around $5 million.
The grant is given to projects that will increase jobs for Appalachian residents.
