Bluegrass Favorites Return To Stuart’s Opera House< < Back to
Area bluegrass fans are expected to converge on Nelsonville's Public Square this Friday when Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out join Athens County's own Hart Brothers for an encore performance at Stuart's Opera House.
Since 1991, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out have garnered numerous awards, including seven straight IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) trophies for Vocal Group of the Year and five for IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year.
In addition to recording over a dozen albums, the group, which includes Russell Moore (guitar), Steve Dilling (banjo), Justen Haynes (fiddle), Wayne Benson (mandolin) and Edgar Loudermilk (bass), has performed throughout the U.S., including appearances on the Grand Ole Opry and the GAC and RFD Networks.
The band has received critical plaudits from all corners of the bluegrass, country and Americana communities, including parcbench.com, which stated "Great music happens when the right combination of players choose the right songs a share in a collective effort to play music the right way. For 16 albums now, Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out have done just about everything right. They are clearly in their prime."
Athens County's Hart Brothers have been a regional bluegrass institution since 1979. Formed by Myron (Pete) Hart, Heamon (Tib) Hart and Arman (Sam) Hart, the original lineup played throughout southeast Ohio and north-central West Virginia until Sam passed away in 1983.
Since then, the group has carried on with several musicians who have helped refine The Hart Brothers' unique brand of "modern traditional bluegrass."
The current lineup consists of Pete (mandolin) and Tib (banjo) with recent recruits Jessie Jeffries on bass and and Dave Winters on guitar.
The band, which has six albums to its name, performs 30-35 weekends per year throughout the Midwest. Pete Hart is also well-known to regional radio listeners as a longtime host of D28+5, heard Sunday afternoons on WOUB FM.
Friday's show time is 8 p.m. For more information, visit www.stuartsoperahouse.org.
