Increasing snow and difficult driving conditions have prompted the Vinton County Sheriff's Office to upgrade the county to a level-two snow emergency.
A dispatcher with the department said the level was increased Saturday afternoon when accumulation on the roadways increased.
A level-two emergency means motorists should avoid driving and conditions are dangerous.
The spokesperson said she did not know how long the increased level was expected to be in place.
