Athens Police Looking Into Rape Case

Athens Police are investigating a sexual assault after a 19-year-old woman reported being raped in the city's south end.

According to a police report, the woman told officers Tuesday she was sexually assaulted by a known person on Sunday in the early morning hours, between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m.

Lieutenant Joe Stotts says it is possible the woman was drugged.

Police are not releasing any other details at this time.
