Practicing Rural Medicine

On this edition of Conversations from Studio B, host Jackie Wolf talks with Randy Longenecker, M.D., the Assistant Dean for Rural and Underserved Programs and a Professor of Family Medicine at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Wolf and Longenecker discuss training students in rural medicine, how to get students interested in rural medicine, and how to transition from medical school to a rural medical practice.

“Most physicians working in urban underserved areas don’t live there. And that is a big difference, to me. When you live in a community and it's your community, that creates a whole new layer of stuff," said Longenecker.
