A Scioto County man is in critical condition following a three-vehicle accident early Tuesday morning in Pike County.

According to the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 43-year-old James Farmer was taken to Grant Medical Center after his car was struck from the front and back by two separate vehicles on State Route 772.

The accident happened around 5:55 a.m.

Farmer's Nissan Sentra was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Timothy Slagle, 54, of Piketon, after Slagle drove left of center in the oncoming lane.

Troopers say following that collision, the car was hit from behind by a GMC Sierra driven by Ronald Williams, 56, of Piketon.

Slagle and Williams were taken to the Pike County Community Hospital.

The road was closed for about two hours.

The accident remains under investigation.
