The Ohio EPA has issued a final air permit to replace two existing coal-fired boilers at Kraton Polymers U.S. LLC in Belpre.

The final air permit establishes emission limitations to ensure the new boilers comply with federal and state air pollution control standards.

The permit allows facility-wide emissions to change.

There will be a net emissions increase in carbon monoxide, but net emissions for nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide and particulate matter will decrease.

The final permit allows for the emission of 163.6 tons of carbon monoxide per year.

Kraton will be required to comply with hourly carbon monoxide emissions limitations.
