Police in one Belmont County village are hoping some amateur home surveillance equipment might help them catch whoever slashed the tires on nearly 30 cars overnight Sunday.

Shadyside Police Officer Dan Napolitano says a total of 37 tires on 27 vehicles were reported damaged between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m.

The incident happened between the 4000 and 4500 block of Highland Avenue.

Napolitano says his department has had a couple of tips come in and officers are investigating.

A few residents in the area have trail cams, which hunters use to capture images of deer.

Napolitano says officers might be able to use photos from the trail cams to get more information as to who is responsible for the crimes.
