The Mid-American Conference announced Tuesday that Ohio pitcher Jake Miller was named MAC East Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his solid outing against Boston College last Saturday.

Miller led the Bobcats (1-4) to their first win of the season in an 8-1 victory over the Ealges in the 2013 Keith LeClair Classic.

The win improved Miller’s record to 1-1 on the season, as the freshman righty pitched 8.0 innings and allowed just three hits and one earned run in his second collegiate start.

Miller struck out seven of 29 batters faced, forcing 11 flyouts and 6 groundouts by the Eagles. Boston College had a .125 batting average against 6-foot pitcher.

This is the first time in Miller’s career to receive this conference accolade. He and the Bobcats will hit the road again to play Virginia Tech in Cary, NC on Friday, Mar. 1. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
