Athens is moving on to the District Finals after they had a hot second half to defeat Chillicothe, winning by a final score of 59-49. This game wasn't all Bulldogs the whole time, as they trailed by 13 after two quarters. They had a breakthrough with a 31-point fourth quarter that sealed the deal.

Chillicothe's leader, senior Zach Johnson, scored a game-high 25 points. He scored 16 in the first half and it looked as though he would be unstoppable until the Athens defense stepped up in the third and didn't allow him to score a point. He started to force shots late in the game as well as his shooting percentage dropped from 44 percent in the first half to 25 percent in the second.

Athens came out slow tonight only scoring six in the first quarter and looked to have a case of stage fright as the offense wasn't working well together. At half, the players collected themselves and came out anew as they tore up the Cavalier's defense.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Ibi Watson as he scored a team-high 19 points and pulled down four rebounds as well.

Although tonight's win was big for the Bulldogs they need to be ready to play a tough Miami Trace team next week who will capitalize if Athens has another slow start like they did tonight. The game will be played Thursday, Mar. 7 at the Convocation Center.
