Prosecuting the three members of a southeast Ohio family for killing a young woman and dumping her body in a septic tank may end up costing taxpayers around $300,000.

Hocking County has spent more than $279,000 so far in prosecuting William Inman, Sandra Inman and their son, William Inman II. The county auditor says the number will grow as their appeals mount.

All have been convicted and sentenced to life on prison in the 2011 strangulation of Summer Inman, 25, who was the estranged wife of William Inman II.

The auditor said Hocking County paid all of the costs for the February trial of William Inman, which was moved to Ross County because a fair jury couldn't be seated in Hocking County.
