The state says officials won't voluntarily publicize the types of animals at Ohio's new holding facility for exotic creatures but will release that public information if it is requested.

Ohio Department of Agriculture Director David Daniels had said during a media preview that the information wouldn't be released to the public, mainly to deter anyone from trying to gain access to them.

Department spokeswoman Erica Hawkins says the department isn't commenting on the transportation of animals or the occupancy of the building.

But she said the agency is required to turn over any documents regarding the housing and transportation of animals that aren't exempt from public records laws.

Daniels had said police and emergency first responders will be notified about the animals at the facility in Reynoldsburg, east of Columbus.
