A local urgent care doctor has been found guilty of failure to report child abuse.

The verdict of the two-day jury trial for Dr. Anthony Zucco came yesterday.

He was found guilty after failing to notify law enforcement or children's services after a minor victim reported she had been sexually assaulted by a family member.

The state presented evidence at the trial that Dr. Zucco failed to perform a medical exam and told the victim that reporting the incident would give her unwanted media publicity.

Dr. Zucco was employed by Premier Urgent Care in Lancaster at the time of the incident.

The family eventually reported the incident despite Dr. Zucco's advice.

The alleged perpetrator was investigated by the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office and prosecuted in the Fairfield County Juvenile Court.

Fairfield County Prosecutor Gregg Marx praised investigators and prosecutors for their hard work.

"In our county, child abuse will be reported. If it is not, we will continue to prosecute individuals such as Dr. Zucco to ensure children are protected," Marx said in a press release.
