Former Ohio Bobcat linebacker Alphonso Lewis was arrested on Saturday for possession of an illegal open container in Athens.

Lewis, 23, was charged with a minor misdemeanor and issued a citation.

According to a court document, Lewis was in possession of "an open container of beer or intoxicating liquor in a public place."

He did not appear for his scheduled court date at 9:30 a.m. Monday.

The Altoona, Pa. native wrapped up his career with the Bobcats this past season, starting 11 games at outside linebacker. He earned All-Mid-American Conference Third Team honors, racking up 61 total tackles.

For his career, Lewis appeared in 53 games, totaling 183 tackles and forcing five fumbles.

The redshirt senior did not participate in Ohio's pro day last Wednesday.

This marks the second time Lewis has been arrested in Athens. He was cited for "criminal trespass" on May 12, 2009 and ordered to pay $184.
