UPDATE 5:51 PM Police say a 21-year-old central Ohio woman was badly beaten during what they describe as a neighborhood brawl in Circleville.
Grant Medical Center in Columbus said Brittany Jeffers was declared dead early Thursday, but her mother told The Columbus Dispatch she was being kept on life support later Thursday so that her organs could be donated. The hospital said it could not release any other information because of privacy laws.
Jeffers was beaten Wednesday afternoon in a neighborhood in Circleville, about 25 miles south of Columbus. Police said 911 calls reported a large number of people fighting in a street.
Circleville police didn't immediately release further details about what happened. Officers were working to identify suspects in the beating.
