With 109 points, the Ohio women’s track and field team finished fourth out of eight teams Saturday at the RedHawk Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.

The team was led by senior Danielle Winningham and junior Melissa Thompson. Winningham took first place in the 800m with a time of 2:10.84. Winningham’s time, which was her personal-best, qualified for MAC Outdoor Championships. Thompson took first place in the 5,000m, clocking in at 17:47.04.

A host of Bobcats performed well in the 1500m Saturday. Freshman Kayla Scott finished in second place with a time of 4:45.46. Sophomore Morgan Reichert clocked in at 4:50.05, which was good enough for fifth place.  Freshman Tessa Weigand finished in sixth place with a time of 4:51.40. Junior Morgan Meade finished almost immediately after Weigand with a time of 4:52.01, which was good enough for seventh place.

Sophomore Chanda Cuckler’s performance in the long jump earned her an automatic bid in the MAC Championships, as she posted a 1.67m Saturday.

Senior Lauren McCollough finished in second place in the javelin throw with a throw of 39.02m. Alexa Marci and Olivia Vitou had throws of 35.00m and 34.79m, which put them in fourth and fifth place.

Senior Alexis Geiger posted a 5.67m in the long jump, which was good enough for third place in the event.

The Bobcats’ next competition is the Ohio Open at the Goldsberry Track on Friday.
