Ohio Men’s Golf Still Eighth At MAC Championships

The Ohio men’s golf team sits in eighth place for the second day in a row at the MAC Championship Tournament after shooting a team score of 315 Saturday.

The Bobcats are a combined 77-over par (941) through three rounds and one stroke ahead of ninth-place Northern Illinois (942).

Senior Brad Lucas recorded the best score for the Bobcats during the tournament’s third round, shooting a 77, but still has the team’s highest total score with 248. Lucas is in 42nd place overall out of 45 players.

Michael Lamping shot a 78 in the third round, bumping him down from tied for fourth overall to a tie for 10th at +9.

Byron Firestone shot a 79 on Saturday, putting him +18 for the tournament and tied for 27th overall.

Connor Coldwater  and Andrew Mlynarski sit back-to-back in the overall standings at 39th and 40th after three rounds at +28 and +29, respectively.

Kent State maintained the top spot from Friday and holds a commanding lead over the rest of the field going into the final round of play. The Golden Flashes are 18 strokes ahead of the second place Toledo Rockets.

All five of Ohio’s golfers tee off for the final round of the MAC Tournament between 7:50 and 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
