Athens County Commissioners selected Dan Pfeiffer to serve as interim director of the county’s 911 center.
The Athens Messenger reports Pfeiffer, who is currently the assistant chief of the Athens County Emergency Medical Services in Nelsonville, takes the reins on Sunday.
As previously reported, Scott Warner, the former 911 director, resigned last week. No explanation was provided in Warner’s letter, however, Commissioner Lenny Eliason said Warner’s resignation was partly due to the disciplinary settlement of Jeffrey Morris, a part-time dispatcher. Commissioners voted to dismiss Morris last week for omitting information about a conviction on his application.
After Warner’s resignation, the agency’s day-to-day operations had been handled by Commissioner Charlie Adkins. Adkins previously said the temporary replacement will fill in for at least six months, or until the agency finds a permanent replacement.
