Authorities are now saying only one suspect was involved in the assault of a U.S. Navy sailor who was found dead in his Gallipolis apartment on Sunday.
Stephen Perry, 22, was home on leave after returning from an eight-month deployment in the Persian Gulf and was expected to return to service within the next few weeks.
Previously, multiple suspects were reported, but now the police have narrowed it down to one.
According to the authorities, Perry got into an altercation the night before his death in an alley near the Municipal Parking lot.
He was found dead in his apartment at 151 Upper River Road the next day.
Police say the results of the autopsy will take up to six weeks, and the investigation is ongoing.
