Businesses in West Virginia and Ohio are being surveyed to determine whether the Mid-Ohio Valley could support a proposed multipurpose ballpark.

The surveys are being distributed by tourism agencies and chambers of commerce in Parkersburg, and in Belpre and Marietta in Ohio.

Wood County Development Authority president Cam Huffman tells the Parkersburg News and Sentinel that the survey asks participants about the area's demographics, how far people would be willing to drive to the facility and other information.

The authority hired AECOM and The Rooney Sports and Entertainment Group to conduct a feasibility study of the proposed ballpark.

If the survey's results aren't favorable, Huffman says the feasibility study might not go any further.

A site for the proposed ballpark hasn't yet been determined.
