The University of Rio Grande announced a new addition to its softball team Thursday evening. Katie Noll of Milford High School (Ohio) signed as a member of the RedStorm’s 2013 recruiting class, according to RioRedStorm.com.

Noll stands at 5-foot-7 and is a dual threat player as a pitcher and a hitter. In Noll’s senior season at Milford she put together an 11-6 record to go along with an ERA of 2.05. Noll’s 11 wins were second in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference. Her 90 strikeouts were also fourth best among conference pitchers.

In the batter’s box, Noll hit .299 and drove in 14 runs. Her efforts helped the Milford High School Eagles to a 16-13 record and a trip to the semifinal round of Division I district play.

When Noll is not in the pitcher’s circle or at the plate she can be found fielding at first base.

The former eagle was a first team All-ECC selection in 2013. She also collected her team’s sportsmanship award and honors on the All-Academic team. Adding to her many accomplishments, Noll played in the Southwest Ohio Softball Coaches Association Senior All-Star Games.

"We're excited to have her in our program,” Rio Grande head coach Kristen Adams said to RioRedStorm.com. “I look for her to contribute immediately this season."

Noll joins an already young pitching staff. In 2013, Rio Grande carried three freshman pitchers on the roster, and the RedStorm finished with a 22-19 record and seventh in the Mid-Southern Conference.
