Local Musicians, Artists Celebrated At First-Annual Athens Arts Hop

Starting Wednesday, June 26, artists, musicians and art-enthusiasts will flood Court Street for the first-ever Athens Arts Hop.

The four-day celebration, which is part of the Athens Area Homecoming, will feature work from dozens of talented local artists in the area and will happen concurrently with the 8th annual Ohio Brew Week.

The Athens Area Citizens For The Arts invites the public to attend this fun, family-friendly affair. Upcoming events include:

•  Wednesday, June 26, 5-8 p.m.: mask-making on the College Green and at Passion Works Studio (there will be horse rides from the College Green to Passion Works)

•  Wednesday, June 26, 7 p.m.: Under the Elms Summer Concert Series presents "Moving with Meaning," a conductors workshop presented by the Ohio University School of Music (Andrew Trachsel, music director)

•  Thursday, June 27, 5-8 p.m.: The Kennedy Museum of Art and The Dairy Barn Quilt National 2013 will be open and free to the public

•  Friday, June 28, 5-8 p.m.: the City of Nelsonville hosts its monthly Final Fridays event, including the Stuart's Opera House Free Summer Concert Series, featuring The Royales

•  Saturday, June 29, 12-9 p.m.: Arts Hop Festival begins with local artists in front of Passion Works on West State Street. Mask-making voting takes place from 5-8 p.m.

•  Sunday, June 30: Athens Arts Hop concludes. Studios and venues will be presenting works from local artists
