Ohio's attorney general has begun funding new regional sexual assault coordinators to oversee direct and comprehensive services for victims of sexual assault.

Attorney General Mike DeWine said in March that 52 of Ohio's 88 counties do not offer such services. The attorney general has said it is crucial that adequate services are available to anyone who has been sexually assaulted.

DeWine spokesman Jill Del Greco said that the office has provided Ohio University $32,439 to provide services throughout Meigs and Perry counties, part of a five year, $1.5 million statewide project.

The AG has also provided Helpline of Delaware and Morrow Counties $32,500 to provide services throughout Crawford and Wyandot counties.

Del Greco said Monday the federally funded grants provide direct assistance to sexual assault victims throughout Ohio.
