One Dead – Two Injured in Rt. 93 Crash

A left turn in front of an oncoming vehicle turned out to be deadly for a Hocking County woman.

Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Athens Post said the accident occurred at 10:18 p.m. Saturday night at the intersection of State Route 93 and Geiger Road.

The accident report said a 2005, KIA Sedona, driven by Amanda R. Kelly, was traveling northbound on State Route 93 and struck a 2005, Pontiac Sunfire, driven by Loryn N. Cassady, who was turning left, onto southbound State Route 93, from Geiger Road.

Both drivers and a passenger in the Pontiac Sunfire, Jordan E. Jugensmer, were all injured and all were from Logan.

Cassady was trapped in her vehicle and had to be removed by mechanical means by the Logan Fire Department.

She died at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, in Logan where she had been taken by Hocking County EMS.

Kelly and Jugensmer were taken to Hocking Valley Community Hospital for treatment.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in this crash. Troopers were assisted at the crash scene by the Hocking County EMS, Hocking County Sheriff’s Office, Shawnee Police Department and the Logan Fire Department.
