Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in a deadly car crash in Jackson County that killed one and closed a roadway for several hours.

The Jackson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said two vehicles collided head-on on state Route 93 Saturday night killing Guy Sheets, a passenger in a car driven by Lora Sheets of Oak Hill.

Sheets' car was southbound on the road about a half mile south of Standpipe Rd. when it crashed into a northbound truck being driven by Joseph Osborne of Ray, Ohio.

Lora Sheets was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital with incapacitating injuries by Med Flight.

Osborne was taken by Jackson County EMS to Holzer Hospital in Jackson with non-life threatening injuries.

Guy Sheets was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kathleen Fuller of the Ohio Department of transportation said the road was closed for nearly five hours because of the crash.

The road was reopened just after 3:00 AM Sunday morning.
