Ohio University Closes Buildings After Outage Causes Rise In Indoor Temperatures

UPDATE 9:10 a.m. According to an official statement from Ohio University, buildings that have been affected by the outage should be restored within the next 24-48 hours.


Some buildings have been temporarily closed on Ohio University's Athens campus.

According to a report from the university, an outage of OU's West Green Chilled Water Plant has affected some building temperatures, causing them to be 10 to 15 degrees F above outside temperatures.

The outage is expected to last several days.

The following buildings are closed as a result: The Human Resources Training Center, Stocker Center, Irvine Hall, Boyd Hall and the Convocation Center.

Other buildings on campus will experience warmer temperatures than normal.

Classes and programming scheduled for these buildings will be moved, cancelled or rescheduled.
