A West Virginia center is getting federal funding to expand and increase patient access to mental health treatment and substance abuse recovery services.

Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin and Rep. Nick Rahall announced the funding for Prestera Center for Mental Health Services on Monday.

The Huntington center is getting $280,000 to expand its telemedicine capabilities to reach clients throughout its eight-county area.

Prestera expects at least 900 people will use its expanded telemedicine capabilities to manage their medications, access their care provider or receive specialty services.

The center's system allows clients to get treatment and specialty care without barriers such as transportation, lack of qualified provider or stigma which may be inhibiting their access to care.
