Ohio University Welcomes Back Smith As Assistant AD For Multimedia Marketing

Ohio Athletics announced Wednesday the addition of Tanner Smith as the department's Assistant Athletic Director for Multimedia Marketing. Smith graduated from Ohio's Scripps School of Journalism in 2012 after working for four years at WOUB.

Smith joins the Ohio athletic department after working with 20/20 Media in Philadelphia during the 2012-13 season. He served as the company's New Media Director. With 20/20 Media, Smith worked closely with Temple Athletics and produced two Emmy-nominated shows: Temple Tuff: Behind the Scenes with Temple Football and Temple Basketball: Above the Rim.

A WOUB alum, Smith spent the 2011-12 academic year serving as producer and lead editor of The Bobcat Sports Showcase, which made its debut under Smith's guidance. In his the show's first year, Smith and his staff worked closely with the Ohio athletic department to produce feature content and in-depth interviews with student athletes, coaches and administrators. The show aired weely locally and regionally throughout the state of Ohio.

Smith and his staff won an Emmy for their efforts in the show's inaugral year in the category of Half-Hour TV Programming.

In addition, Smith served as the lead producer and editor of a half-hour documentary detailing the journey and accomplishments of then-Ohio starting point guard D.J. Cooper. The piece, entitled In Coop We Trust, debuted online and generated over 2,500 views over a month-long span.

Smith also served as a sports intern with NBC 4 in Columbus in 2010 and spent three years as a producer of WOUB's Hardwood Heroes.
