The Ohio women’s golf team placed sixth at the Redbird Invitational on Monday with a final team score of 918 (+54).

The team, led by sophomore Angela Codian, shot a 306 in its third and final round of the two-day competition. Codian went +2 on her final 18 holes and finished tied for the ninth best score among individuals at the tournament.

Freshman Hailey Hrynewich was not far behind Codian, shooting +3 while recording two birdies on her final round. She finished her first ever NCAA competition with a total score of 231 (+15) and improved by two strokes every round.

Sophomore Lauren McKinzie finished with the third-best score (+5) on Monday for Ohio. She finished tied with Hrynewich overall, going +15 through three rounds. Junior Julie Lechner and senior Kara Brinkmann rounded out the Ohio squad, shooting +17 and +30, respectively.

Toledo placed first at the event with a team score of 890, the only tally not to reach 900. The Rockets also had three different competitors, Kate Hoops (+3), Manisa Isavas (+7) and Sathika Ruenreong (+7), finish in the top 10 of the tournament’s individual leaderboard.

Ohio has two weeks to prepare for the next event on its fall schedule, the Nittany Lion Invitational, starting Sept. 27 in University Park, PA.
