A pair of Tri-Valley Conference teams will take the field Friday for an offensive week four showdown. The Meigs Marauders will host the Trimble Tomcats, as both teams will look to continue their winning ways after earning victories last week.

An impressive 57-7 week three win against River Valley has the Marauders looking to improve to 3-1 on the season, but a powerful Tomcats team stands in the way.

Meigs is second in the TVC-Ohio in points scored, averaging 40.7 per game, trailing only Athens’ 52.3 points per game. Trimble has averaged 33.3 points per game in the TVC-Hocking, which is the third-most by any team in the conference this season.

Trimble has only allowed one touchdown through three games, which came during its week two matchup against Wahama. Meigs allows four touchdowns per game on average.

The Tomcats have been successful on defense, but will have their work cut out for them when they go against quarterback Khalieb Sheets from Meigs. The sophomore signal-caller has thrown for 384 yards and six touchdowns this season. Sheets has recorded running back-like numbers as well, rushing for 253 yards and three touchdowns.

But Meigs will need to find a way to get through Trimble’s defense, which will be busy trying to cover Sheets’ passing and running games.

Konner Standley and Austin Downs will also need to make plays on both sides of the ball to keep Meigs from giving the Tomcats their first loss in the regular season since week two of 2012. A season ago, Trimble shut out Meigs in a 22-0 victory. Expect Meigs to be ready to put points on the board during the 2013 meeting.

The Marauders will be ready when the Tomcats come to Pomeroy for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff Friday.
