A new Athena Cinema series is offering the opportunity to enjoy documentary films and participate in discussions with panels and guest speakers following the screenings.

Now through Oct. 30, the Ohio University Common Experience Project on Sustainability will be hosting a series of films on the environment and sustainability. The screenings are one-time only events and admission is free.

We Are Not Ghosts, scheduled for Oct. 2 at 7 p.m., tells tales of Detroit citizens remaking their city with vision and spirit, presenting a compelling vision for the transformation of contemporary American society.

Bidder 70 tells the story of a young hero’s great risk on behalf of the environment, taking us through the step-by-step experience of the consequences of a serious act of civil disobedience. It plays Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.

The final film in the series returns to the Athena after screenings at this year’s Athens International Film and Video Festival. Chasing Ice is the story of one man’s mission to change the tide of history by gathering undeniable evidence of climate change on our planet. Show time is Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.

Tickets are now available at the Athena Cinema. For more information, visit www.athenacinema.com.
