The Tri-Valley Scotties traveled to Jim Rockwell Stadium and shut out the New Lexington Panthers Friday night, 43-0, to remain unbeaten in MVL play.

It was a Scottie show from the beginning of the game. Tri-Valley shut down the New Lex offense in the first quarter; the Panthers only had five offensive plays in the quarter. New Lex also had two turnovers in the first minutes, both leading to touchdowns for the Scotties.

Tri-Valley kept the intensity and energy throughout the rest of the half. With an established running game and a precise quarterback behind center, the Scotties were able to rack up five touchdowns before halftime.

The high intensity and energy from Tri-Valley returned in the second half, as the offense put another touchdown on the board, and the defense kept the Panthers from doing much.

The Scotties had the ball for almost 40 minutes and only punted three times Friday. They relied on a balanced offensive attack with 220 yards on the ground and 146 yards through the air. Defensively, Tri-Valley had three takeaways and benefitted from good field position. The Scotties' offense began in scoring position after each New Lexington turnover.

Thomas Thacker and Hunter Mohler were the main targets for quarterback Brock Fargus. Thacker had two receptions for 59 yards, and Mohler had four grabs for 35 yards. Running back Logan Bash also stepped up with 17 touches for 105 yards.

New Lex, on the other hand, was nearly nonexistent offensively. Offensively, the Panthers only had 102 yards total for the night. There were multiple dropped passes, and the running game could not break through Tri-Valley’s defensive line.

New Lexington (2-3, 1-3) will hit the road to take on the Coshocton Redskins on Oct. 4.

Tri-Valley (3-2, 3-0) will host the West Muskingum Tornadoes (0-5, 0-3).
