The Ohio volleyball team overcame a second-game slip-up to take down Miami in four sets Friday, 25-18, 21-25, 25-19, 25-15.

Kelly Lamberti turned in 19 kills to aid the Bobcat offense against their rivals from Southwest Ohio.

Lamberti gave Ohio (13-2, 3-0 MAC) a lift in the first set of the match.

The junior and former MAC Player of the Year recorded nine kills in the opening frame. Four of those kills came during an 8-1 run in the middle of the set, as Ohio took a 17-9 lead.

The Green and White grabbed control of the second game early on, but a Miami run turned the tide halfway through the set. Trailing, 13-17, after a Lamberti service ace, the RedHawks (8-7, 0-3) stormed ahead on a 9-1 run to take a 22-18 lead. Six points later, Miami finished Ohio off to take the match into the locker room at 1-1.

But Ohio settled in and took care of business in the third and fourth sets.

Lamberti fired back-to-back kills to give Ohio the lead in the third at 3-2. The Bobcats never trailed for the remainder of the game.

In the fourth game, Ohio won nine of the last 12 points to send the RedHawks packing.

Lamberti turned in 16 digs to earn her seventh double-double of the season.

Freshman outside hitter Katie Horton added 12 kills on a .478 clip.

Sophomore Abby Gilleland had 44 assists.

Ryan Theis is now 12-2 against Miami in his Ohio career.

Ohio was back in the Convo for a match Friday night for the first time since Sept. 7. During their 27 days away from home, the Bobcats won seven of eight games and cracked the AVCA Coaches Poll. Ohio is ranked No. 20 in the Sept. 30 edition of the poll.

The 'Cats will play their annual Dig Pink game in the Convocation Center Saturday, when Bowling Green comes to town. The Falcons (6-8, 3-0) were picked to finish at the top of the MAC this preseason, with seven first place votes. Ohio was picked second with five first place votes.

Ohio will wear pink jerseys for their annual fundraiser to fight breast cancer. The Bobcats have a goal to raise 1500 dollars for breast cancer awareness.
