Ohio goalie Aaron Alkema continued to showcase his skills at the ACHA Showcase, earning a shutout in the Bobcats’ 4-0 win over Navy on Saturday.

Alkema made 12 saves in his third consecutive start in net for Ohio and has allowed only two goals in three games. He now leads all Bobcat goalies in goals against average (.067) and save percentage (.973). Saturday’s shutout was his first in a green and white uniform.

Joe Breslin ended a two-game pointless streak on the Bobcats’ second goal, when he was able to slide the puck past Navy goaltender Andrew Mills after being set up by his linemates, Patrick Spellacy and Brett Agnew. The goal was Breslin’s sixth of the season, giving him 11 points in seven games this year.

Nathan De La Torre, Tyler Pecka and Mike Kretz accounted for Ohio’s other three goals, all of which came during the second period. Defensemen Kretz and Pecka both earned their first goals of the season.

The Bobcats successfully killed off all five minor penalties the team took during the game, keeping their penalty kill perfect through two games of the Showcase.

Ohio faces off against the Niagara Purple Eagles in their third and final game of the Showcase on Sunday. The game is scheduled for a 1:15 p.m. start at the Mentor Civic Ice Arena in Mentor, Ohio.
