In this episode of Conversations From Studio B, host Jan Hodson talks with Dr. Margaret A. King, professor emerita of the Ohio University Patton College of Education. King has over 40 years of experience as an early childhood teacher, professor, and consultant. She is the author of numerous publications on a range of early childhood topics.

King and Hodson, whose graduate degree is in child development, discuss the important role of school recess in the development of young children as supported by current research. They describe the alarming trend toward using recess as a disciplinary practice and provide some strategies for parents, teachers and school administrators who wish to ensure that recess policies are in the best interests of children.
