Thousands of coal miners, their families and supporters have made the trip to Washington D.C. for a rally today around 11 a.m. at the National Mall.

Known as the Rally for American Energy Jobs, the event will encourage proposed legislation that will block the Environmental Protection Agency from enforcing strict limitations on greenhouse gas emissions at new power plants.

The EPA claims approximately one-third of all domestic greenhouse gas discharge come from power plants.

The sponsorship of the rally is the West Virginia Coal Association.
