The Muskingum University Department of Music will host its Fall Bands Concert on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 3 p.m. in Brown Chapel.

The performance will feature the university's Wind Ensemble and the 2013 Muskingum YouthFest Honor Band.

A wide variety of music will be presented, ranging from staples of the wind band repertoire to a more eclectic work that utilizes electronics.

The Wind Ensemble will also perform Ronald Lo Presti's "Elegy for a Young American," which was written in memory of President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated 50 years ago this month.

The Wind Ensemble is Muskingum's premier instrumental ensemble and is directed by Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Bands Dr. David Turrill.

The YouthFest Honor Band is comprised of 68 students from 14 Ohio high schools. Those students were nominated by their band directors for a two-day intensive experience at Muskingum, including master classes and rehearsals.

Their performance in the Fall Bands Concert is the culmination of their efforts.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dr. Turrill at 740-826-8182.
