The Mid-American Conference announced a partnership with the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl as a primary bowl partner in 2017 and 2019 Wednesday. They will also serve as a secondary bowl partner for the 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018 bowl seasons.

The MAC will play the Mountain West Conference in both the 2017 and 2019 bowl seasons. The games will be played at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, Calif.

Today's announcement is the fourth bowl announcement by the MAC this year and the centerpiece of a joint agreement between several Football Bowl Subdivision conferences. The MAC will also partake in the Boca Raton Bowl, Bahamas Bowl and Miami Beach Bowl on a six-year rotating basis (2014-2019). Starting in the 2014 college football season, the MAC will have a minimum five guaranteed bowl opportunities.

The teams with tie-ins to the Poinsettia Bowl will be Brigham Young, Army and Navy. If any of those teams are not bowl eligible, their spot will be filled by a team from the MAC.

Ohio became bowl eligible two weeks ago with their win over Miami. After a loss to Buffalo on Tuesday night, the Bobcats are not guaranteed a bowl bid and will need to play well in their final three contests to earn post season play.
