The Mid-South Conference announced Monday that Rio Grande’s Luiz Filho had been named the conference’s Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, which concluded the weekly honors for the 2013 season.

This marks the second time he has earned the honor this season, the previous being awarded on Sept. 30.

Filho scored three goals against Bluefield to lead the RedStorm (13-2-2) to a 6-0 win. This win also led Rio Grande into further play in the Mid-South Conference Tournament semifinals, which will be played later this week.

Filho is not only a leader on the team, but in the conference and NAIA as well. He leads the NAIA with 55 points and 26 goals and is tied for the conference lead in game winning goals with six total.

The No. 2 RedStorm will play No. 3 Campbellsville this Friday in the MSC Tournament in Columbia, Ky.
