Ohio Softball Announces 2014 Schedule

The Ohio softball team revealed its 56-game 2014 schedule on Tuesday, which features 13 games against nine 2013 NCAA Tournament participants, including Ohio University’s rival, Marshall.

The Bobcats will get the 2014 season started at the Carolina Class in Columbia, S.C., from Feb. 7-9 where they will square off against Presbyterian, UNC Greensboro, South Carolina and Iowa.  They will then travel to Athens, Ga., to matchup against South Alabama, Georgia, Mercer and Furman.

Ohio will compete in two other regular season tournaments before its final regular season tournament March 7-9 in Louisville for the Red and Black Classic.

Conference play for the Bobcats begins on March 28 with a doubleheader against Eastern Michigan, which will open up a 22-game Mid-American Conference schedule.

The ‘Cats will take on conference opponents Kent State, Buffalo, Toledo, Bowling Green, Western Michigan and Northern Illinois at home, and will travel to Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Miami, Ball State and Akron to round out conference play.

The regular season concludes May 4 when the Bobcats host Northern Illinois on Senior Day. The 2014 MAC Tournament will begin May 7 in Akron, with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
