On Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16, local dancer and choreographer Missy Whaley and guest artist Chelsea Goettge will take the stage at ARTS/West to present a multi-layered performance featuring local dancers and musicians.

Whaley, a two-time Ohio Arts Council Recipient for an Individual Artist Fellowship in Choreography, is known for her interdisciplinary multi-layered performances.

Her most recent piece, Angels and Wings, was performed at ARTS/West in 2007 and funded by the Ohio Arts Council, the City of Athens and the Athens Foundation among others.

The project was a collaboration with ARTS/West and the local community and included presentations, classes, workshops and a final performance.

In 2001, Whaley was chosen as the Philadelphia Inquirer’s "Pick of the Week" for her work Outside the Walls. She is currently a teacher at Village Productions and Athensworks, as well as Rainbowheart and Wings.

Dancers at this weekend's event includes Adrienne Covington, Tobe Gillogly, Darcy Higgins, Quinn Schmalenberg and CC Ruchti. They most recently performed together in the Honey for the Heart parade, held Oct. 26 on Court Street.

Show time is 8 p.m. both evenings. There will be an $8 suggested donation, $3 for students. Children under 12 will be admitted free of charge. Donations of new or gently used pair of winter boots for tweens and teens will be accepted at the door. All boots will be donated to the Athens County Children Services.
