Fire has destroyed a multi-unit apartment building in downtown Jackson, Ohio.

The 16 room building is located on Pearl Street.

We're told it contained both apartments and boarding rooms.

The fire was reported about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The chief tells WSAZ.com that everyone made it out safely and that no injuries were reported.

We’re told 20-25 people were living in the three- story wood building at the time of the fire.

The Chief said about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, firefighters were pulled out of the building and limited to working on the exterior because the fire was too big.

Firefighters were finally able to leave the scene around 6 a.m.

The exterior of the building suffered minor damage, while the roof and inside of the building were destroyed in the fire.

There is no word on how the fire started.

The Red Cross took residents who couldn't stay with family or friends to the Jackson Health Department.

About an hour after crews arrived on scene, a water main burst in the area causing even more problems for firefighters.

Crews from four departments helped battle the fire
