The Mid-American Conference announced its 2013 Women’s Soccer Academic All-MAC team, and Ohio midfielder Maggie Murnane was one of the 36 student athletes to be recognized on the team.

Murnane, an exercise physiology major with a 3.93 overall GPA, tied for fourth on the Bobcats with eight points, coming off three goals and two assists. The senior captain started 19 of Ohio’s 20 games. This is the second time in her two-year Ohio career that Murnane received this accolade.

The Bobcats had five other players – Annie Beard, Grace Campbell, Gabby Hausfeld, Sasha Haverchak, Leah Sandercock – get recognized in the conference’s All-MAC Honorable Mention team.

The conference states that in order to qualify for the Academic All-MAC team, “a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award."
